The Microsoft Corporation provided vouchers for no cost online computer training programs to the State of California. The State has distributed these vouchers through local Workforce Investment Boards. In San Diego, the San Diego Workforce Partnership in cooperation with the Career Center Network is distributing the vouchers to eligible applicants.

Q: Who is eligible for the vouchers?
A: To receive the no-cost vouchers applicants must:
- Provide proof of the right to work in the United States and
- Be at least a high school senior or older
Q: Do applicants need to show any type of documentation to receive a voucher?
A: Yes, to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in the San Diego Career Center Network; OR
- Bring the following documents in their original condition (no copies):
- Identification Card
- Proof of right to work in the United States
Q: When/where are the vouchers available for pick up?
A: Vouchers are distributed at the following three One-Stop Career Centers until June 8, 2010 or until the vouchers are entirely distributed.

Q: Do the vouchers expire?
A: Yes, the vouchers must be activated before June 8, 2010. Eligible applicants who want to take the certification exam(s) must take the exam before June 8, 2010.
Eligible applicants who do not wish to take the exam(s) have until March 9, 2011 to take the training as long as they activate their voucher before June 8, 2010.
Q: What type of training is provided?
A: The Microsoft vouchers will give eligible applicants access to Microsoft Information Technology Professional Courses.
Q. What about additional training?
A: While not part of the Elevate America Voucher program, Microsoft also offers no cost online self paced training in:
Digital Literacy (beginner)
Windows & Office Essentials (beginner +1)
These additional trainings are available now at no cost, directly through the Microsoft web site.
Q: How many vouchers can one person receive?
A: Eligible applicants can receive vouchers they reasonably need. These vouchers are available on a “first come first serve” basis until all vouchers have been distributed, or until June 8, 2010, whichever comes first. Vouchers are non-transferable.
Q: What fees are charged for the Vouchers?
A: There are no fees or costs associated with the Elevate America program. If a cost appears on the screen during training, customers can ignore these fees and proceed with the on-line training.
Q: What are the necessary computer operating requirements?
A: Individuals must have access to a computer. Note: computer access will not be provided by the One-Stop Career Centers for use to access on-line training.
The training is online so computers must be connected to the internet and must have Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 installed to be able to run the training program. The computer must have Internet Explorer installed. The computer must have speakers with the sound enabled or have head phones, the computer must have 256 MB of RAM, 400 MHz processor or faster, 56 KB/second or faster connection to the Internet.
Q: Where can the training be taken?
A: Eligible applicants should use their personal computers or another computer. The training is online so computers must be connected to the internet and must have Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 installed to be able to run the training program.
The computer must have internet access and Internet Explorer installed. Sound must be enabled, the computer must have 256 MB of RAM, 400 MHz processor or faster, 56 KB/second or faster connection to the Internet.
Due to the audio portion of the training, the computers at the One Stop Career Centers will not be available for this training.
Q: How does the voucher work?
A: Once you receive one or more vouchers, you can log on from any computer with access to the Internet. There is a simple registration form, and you will be prompted to open the learning plan you selected. Each plan has minor differences; however, a series of prompts will assist you. Microsoft also has established a toll free number (800) 636-7544 to assist you.
Q. Is Microsoft software available through this program?
A: The Microsoft Elevate America program does not provide free software.
