Hospitality & Visitor Services Project Description
Goal
To increase the number of individuals seeking careers in the visitor industry.
Project

Create maps of visitor industry occupational career ladders, with information on

Provide information on available education and training resources in the region.

Develop promotional material highlighting the industry’s career opportunities.

Conduct a publicity campaign to encourage individuals to seek careers in the industry.
Labor Market Research

Collect existing regional, state, and national information on visitor industry career ladders and occupations.

Conduct surveys or focus groups with regional employers to create "consensus" regional information for visitor industry career ladders and occupations.

Conduct a "tips" survey and analysis to build tips into the regional wage/ salary figures.

Conduct surveys of education and training providers to identify their visitor industry programs.

Prepare vignettes of individual success stories in moving up visitor industry career ladders.
Industry Role

Raise money to publish the study results

Post study results on the industry’s websites.

Help develop and implement an appropriate dissemination strategy.
