Biotechnology
The Biotechnology Workforce Alliance Project Advisory Group is considering three projects: 1. To provide a training for high school and college counselors on career opportunities and requirements to enter this industry; 2. To create a centralized hub for internship opportunities for high school and college students to get work-based learning opportunities; 3. To create an online occupational matrix that includes skill and education requirements.
Additionally, the Workforce Partnership, along with BIOCOM, IDEC Pharmaceuticals, MiraCosta College, Workforce Strategy Center, ACT and the Milken Institute recently received funds totaling $678,546 to enhance workforce development efforts that address emerging labor market needs within our region’s biosciences industry, specifically developing and delivering training in biosciences manufacturing.
